How to Start a Fitness Routine: Tips from Coaches Malek and Ashley
We all start somewhere. Here are some tips to help you start your fitness routine in 2024.
Starting a fitness routine can be intimidating, but Coaches Malek and Ashley are here to help!
In this episode of Coach's Corner, Malek and Ashley share their top tips for starting a fitness routine from scratch. They cover everything from how many times a week you should work out to what to eat before and after your workouts.
Here are some of their key tips:
Find a routine that fits your schedule and preferences. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to fitness. The most important thing is to find a routine that you can stick with.
Start slow and gradually increase the intensity and duration of your workouts. Don't try to do too much too soon. You're more likely to get discouraged and quit if you start out too intense.
Focus on making healthy choices most of the time. You don't have to be perfect. Just make sure that you're making healthy choices more often than not.
Don't be afraid to ask for help. If you're not sure how to use a piece of equipment or how to perform a certain exercise, ask a trainer or gym staff member for help.
Here are some additional tips from the show:
Aim for 3-4 workouts per week, lasting 45-60 minutes each.
Make sure to balance your workouts so that you are working all of your major muscle groups.
If you are new to working out, start with bodyweight exercises or light weights.
When you are first starting out, it is important to focus on form over weight.
Don't be discouraged if you don't see results overnight. It takes time and consistency to see results from your workouts.
A pre-workout supplement can help you get a good pump and improve your workout performance.
A post-workout meal should include protein and carbs to help your muscles recover.
